Named after Alan Kulan, a pioneering prospector of the Yukon area in Canada, Kulanite is a a rare phosphate mineral. Usually blue to green, it forms aggregates of shiny tabular crystals. The type locality is Rapid Creek in Yukon, Canada but it has also been found in China, USA and Austria.
