Rhodochrosite is a manganese carbonate mineral with chemical composition MnCO3. In its (rare) pure form, it is typically a rose-red color, but impure specimens can be shades of pink to pale brown. It is found in a small number of locations worldwide where other manganese minerals are usually present.

The most famous localities include Sweet Home Mine in Colorado, the Kalahari manganese field in South Africa, the Uchucchacua mine in Peru or Capillitas Mine in Argentina. It is to be noted that the Argentinian occurrence of this mineral forms stalagmites and stalactites in some Inca Silver mines dating from the 13th century.
