Collection: Cassiterite

Cassiterite is the primary ore of tin and a well-known collector’s mineral, admired for its strong luster and rich colors that range from black and dark brown to golden hues. It commonly forms in high-temperature hydrothermal veins and pegmatites, often associated with Quartz, Muscovite, or Tourmaline.

Well-crystallized Cassiterite can show brilliant internal reflections and sharp twinning, giving it a striking, gem-like appearance. Fine specimens are found in classic localities such as Bolivia, China, the Czech Republic, and Australia notably Elsmore in New South Wales, which has produced lustrous dark brown crystals on Quartz.
