Descloizite is a rare lead-zinc vanadate mineral, typically forming striking, dark brown to black crystals with an adamantine to resinous luster. It often occurs in radiating groups or well-defined prismatic crystals and can be associated with minerals such as calcite, vanadinite, and mottramite. Descloizite is highly sought after by collectors for its rich color, sharp crystal habit, and distinctive sheen.

The finest specimens come from the Otavi Mountainland in Namibia and the Grootfontein area of South Africa, known worldwide for producing exceptional, well-crystallized examples of this mineral species.
